Medical Discoveries
Discovered that DMSO (Dimethyl Sulfoxide) extracted from tree
lignin (the natural “cement” which holds tree fibre together) had incredible potential for health.
Pioneered medical research into Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO) and
more recently its derivative, Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM).
As a result of Jacob's work DMSO is now used in 120 countries world wide, with an estimated half-a-billion patients benefiting from it’s use!
In Russia alone, 30 million prescriptions for DMSO are now written annually for patients suffering from arthritis, lupus, Scleroderma (a serious skin condition) and a host of pain-related musco-skeletal conditions.
Jacob discovered that DMSO had unique properties as a cryoprotective
(preservative) agent. The discovery was instrumental and is now used world-wide as the protocol for preserving platelets, embryos, ova, sperm cells and transplant-bound frozen bone marrow for life saving operations.
Jacob's initial scientific report on DMSO stimulated thousands of scientific articles in the world's medical community. Over 55,000 scientific studies and papers have been written about DMSO.
Note
I last spoke personally to Dr Jacob in February 1998 (aged 76) at which time he was still writing lecturing and seeing patients. Arriving at the university hospital as early as 6.30 am and working till late afternoon, he always has time for patients with pain conditions, the focus of his life's work.
Dr Jacob is a true humanitarian of the very highest order.
